Niece spilt lemonade over my sister's laptop. Had to attempt a clean, but I've no idea how to properly remove the keyboard for a proper rinse. It's still a bit sticky on the RHS, after I cleaned it as best I could.

I generally have a DMZ around the laptop.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Most of the muck in my keyboard was grease, dust, and hair...

If we drizzle some peri-peri sauce over the top, do you think it'll be enough to get rid of the burnt taste? We could just spitroast him (no homo).

+1. The crumbs could be shaken out except for the few in crevices. What got me was the amount of grease under there that had then trapped further crud.

So to update. Not knowing what to do with the new-found energy and time, I decided to rip off all of the keys, the plastic connectors and clean the keyboard base. That took me about 30 mins to do. I then spent the next 3.5 hrs putting all back together! Pretty much without a hitch, except for the fact that I lost a small metal wire that goes under the tab key. It's also found under the spacebar, capslock, shifts, backspace and enter keys to give it that "clacky" sound. I'll live without it. My typing's improved, given I don't have to retype or hammer keys like previously.

The wire does have a function other than to make a nice clacky sound. It allows the larger keys to be operated when touched at the edges rather than centre. Sort of like an anti-roll bar on a car suspension, it transmits force to the opposite side.

+1 Was going to say this also. On the space bar it is most obvious. If you take the spring wire out and press it at one end it will only depress on the end you pressed. With the bar in you can press anywhere on the spacebar and the whole key moves down evenly.

I honestly don't know how the kids laptops are still running, considering the amount of crap that gets spilt on them. I've already warned them, if anything dies and cannot be repaired by me, they won't get a replacement.

It's now a well known fact that 666 is NOT the number of the beast...
