(Note: Not sure if this is ok to post here, let me know if not and I'll remove it-thought it was interesting though)Yahoo News ClickyOk, so according to the academic papers, quite a lot of "Scientists" believe that this is/was the step that needed to be taken in order for a worldwide pandemic to occur and wipe out a significant number of the population. It didn't happen with bird flu because the strain of the H1N1 virus wasn't particularly prevelant, but now it's passing from the piggies to Humans quite easily and killing a large number of those it touches. Anyone planning a trip to Mexico in the near future?

I doubt it, if it hasn't made it off mainlaind US yet, Peru should be safe for a while. Just mention that he might not want to get bitten by any pigs he sees.

Oh lawd. Is this going to be yet another SARS style epidemic? Not again. I hope it mutates into some sort of zombie virus. Left 4 Dead IRL! F*CK YEAH!

By yesterday morning it had killed 60 in Mexico and a few non-fatal cases were reported in the United states - big cities! It only has to reach one person with the flu already and we're all in trouble! People are infectious before they realise they are. One flight to Europe is all it'll take.

The radio here said that medical authorities were already providing information and procedures for airports, for restricting travel...

The difference being that it took a while before Scientists were able to determine how infectious both of those were. In the end they determined that both have a low transmission and infection rate and the only people seriously affected were the vulnerable, the elderly and very small children. This is highly infectious, passes from animal to human very easily and kills otherwise completely healthy people. Scientists don't need any time to determine the seriousness of Swine Flu, it's already happening.

I wonder if the survivors will start having dreams of some old woman playing a guitar on her porch in Nebraska? Or to be more relevant to us, Somerset.
