http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13080120Could this work in London? It seems to me that in the UK people complain about everything and anything so I can see mass protests if this was introduced over here. From fears of terrorism, health issues due to noise levels and of course good old discrimination being brought up

The Tube's noisy enough without pop music.

+1 Are they trying to push people away from using the Metro?

So why does it work in Brussels and it won't work here? They had it playing for six years so they must enjoy it. Why is the UK so different?

I would venture that British people like to continue on their journey unimpeded and peacefully. Who doesn't like the "quiet carriage" after all?

If only they had mobile phone and kids carriages, leaving the rest of the train free from nuisance.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Have any of you actually read the article or watched the video? NO, it is not on the trains, only the stations. And NO, they are not trying to push people anywhere, they had it for 6 years now. You just need to dismiss everything for the sake of it without even finding out what it actually is.

I'm aware it's only at the stations. However, the last thing I need when travelling up and down the endless escalators is crap pop music being blasted at me. I quite like classical music, but if I want to listen to it on the Tube I'll get my MP3 player out. +1

I would agree but I would not consider Queen - "I want to break free" as drivel. I like the idea, it means that you could listen to music without the hiss of MP3 players and might make people less likely to use a mobile, which again is better. I would rather listem to some pop music than some bloke tell us about the bad day that they had, or their plans for the weekend.

Do people still talk to each other on public transport? Can't say I've seen it in recent years

Metro stations there are very different. Not the confined tubular affairs we have in London where the acoustics are dreadful.

Most people travel alone to work each day so probably not.
