This is all very "now" so information is sketchy. Some sort of riot involving eviction of squatters and hatred of Tesco.

No mainstream news coverage yet, but all over Twitter. Many Police in attendance, including some Welsh units.

Live stream can be seen here: http://bambuser.com/channel/grantikins/ ... st/1596856

Twitter hashtag is #stokescroft

Strange coincidence ahoy - I was watching Bottom on Gold last night and the episode they were showing was 'Riot'.

If they suspect that there will be this sort of trouble at a new store why give planning permission to build it?

I thought this started last night?

2 nights in a row of rioting over Tescos? Can't say I hate going to the supermarket that much. :D

If it were Ikea, that would be different. I'd much rather spend Friday night burning one down, than a Saturday afternoon shopping there.

Go to Sweden. Caravaners are positively welcomed at IKEA in Sweden. They even bring out coffee and bagels for those that stay over night.

I read the title and thought “Rioting in Bristol - how middle class”. Then I read it was about a Tesco store. How right I was. At least in Tesco they will be able to buy rocket instead of resorting to using dandelions in their falafel sandwiches.

All this over a Tescos?
Are they disappointed it's not a Waitrose?

Yes but wouldn't that be the case if this was in Guildford? ;)

Interestingly the squatters were not anti the Tesco store. So the police raid seems pointless in the first place. There may be been petrol on the site but probably to fuel petriol stoves. So the so called petrol bombs may not even exist.
