So I guess calling my two cats

Fat Cat
and
Thin Cat

will now have the police around to arrest me.

Animal lovers should stop calling their furry or feathered friends “pets” because the term is insulting, leading academics claim.

Dear Daily Telegraph

Please change the phrase 'leading academics' to the phrase 'gibbering idiots'.

He's also barking mad.

Domestic dogs, cats, hamsters or budgerigars should be rebranded as “companion animals” while owners should be known as “human carers”, they insist.

Oh, just f**k off! Just because you have a PhD, doesn't mean you're NOT a gobsh!ting idiot.

And why "human" carers? Admittedly, some owners are inhuman, but non-human?

While we're at it... “companion animals” isn't also insulting to call them animals then? "Pet", to me, usually infers some kind affection towards the animal.

It must be great to be an academic, to devote your career to the subtle ways in which language ethics and perception affect each other, and then one day to wake up and find that a very overrated newspaper has misleadingly summarised your work in order to persuade a semi literate mob that you are a cartoon villain.

It must be even more great to realise how easily they can achieve this end.

Phrases such as “sly as a fox, “eat like a pig” or “drunk as a skunk” are all unfair to animals, they claim.

Fine so sly like a MP trying to claim expenses, eat like an obese american, drunk as Gazza should be the new terms.
