so after the first count coffee wins but doesnt have the majority, so we go to the second round.
What were the second preferences?
Lets assume it was coffee for the green man choice.
So coffee has 40% of the vote but still no winner.. but hang on
for the third round you have a tie, so who gets eliminated!!!

But hang on maybe there were many second/third choices for tea?
So beer and coffee doesnt win but tea does

that flow diagram is disingenuous at best. Complicating FPTP and simplifying AV.

What do I want to do if I want to punish both of them? I doubt I'd get close enough to slap them both with a wet fish.

If BNP=FPTP then AV=Yes.

I voted yes to punish Cameron. Next time if we get AV I will punish Clegg then. Plenty of time to do that.

Perhaps, but I think it's a fair description of all those people that talk about 'tactical voting' and 'not voting for X because it's a wasted vote'.

I'll admit to voting liberal my entire voting life. Mainly because they most closely match my beliefs. Lots of others would describe my choice as a 'wasted vote', as if being on the 'winning' team is all that matters.

I suspect they'd want PR. Thankfully we aren't voting on that.

Actually with tactical voting which can throw up starnge results as well it will make the next election tricky. If Clegg remains in charge of the Lib Dems many send preference votes will no longer be given to them. Though the Tory voters might do that more. So no knowing how this will work.
