Well I voted yes, I can punish Clegg at the next election.

BBC projecting a massive NO vote on the referendum - almost 2:1 against.
So we’ve lost that chance.

My local council is new Green dominated. Not quite control but I will see the local constituency votes and might switch to green next time.

LibDems got hammered - Tories winning like 25 seats out of 45. Not surprised tbh - LibDems inflexability towards helping Sixfields development (going out of their way to block it), town centre parking charges. Think the people got fed up with them - I did!

I think that things will improve for the Liberals as soon as they ditch Clegg and have a more centrist policy. Historically they have been more centre left than getting dragged out to the right where they reside now.

Seeing as neither of those things is actually true, what must happened is people falling for the b*ll*cks spouted by the Chron. For instance the opposition to Sixfields is actually due to national Conservative Party policy. Ah well - we'll be back to apply the Sudocrem when the town has been totally rogered.

I was a bit annoyed with our council votes. Everyone's up in arms at the Tory council pushing through new council offices at great expense, despite a local poll showing 90% not in favour. The lib dems specifically campaigned to cancel it and yet everyone voted the Tories in again. IMO, they've got no right to moan about it ever again.

That's what happens when people are too lazy to form their own opinion and instead rely on the Murdoch press to tell them what to think. Cretins.

And our local Mayor is now about 100 years old and a true-blue Tory. He'll be replacing the last Mayor, who was also Tory. He'd been trying to get the Tory government to commit to building a bypass to ease local congestion and encourage business investment in the Bay. What happened was that we had MPs visiting, promising to get the bypass under way in Parliament, to secure the funding. Then, after the election, nothing happened. So the mayor called them out on it, and left the party. Yup, the guy who'd done more than most about improving the local economy has been shafted, and now we've got a nice 'safe' Tory who won't rock the boat and will probably do nothing but tread water, fly the party flag and do as he's told. It's so disappointing.

When it comes to voting for mayors I think that it is pretty rigged as it is now. In the US the system that they have to select mayors is excellent. The person with the the highest number of votes becomes mayor regardless of party. It encourages higher turnout and stops it being used as a prize for someone if they toe the line.
