Locally....
Pre budget unleaded £131.9 / ltr Post " £130.9 Within a week £131.9 Now £135.9
I read in the press the "other day" that Shell made £4.2 billion profit in Q1 2011. Some daily rag said that = £50 million / day.
I'm pretty sure I heard on the radio (4) today or yesterday morning that crude had fallen $10 / barrel in the US recently (for reasons I can't remember with it being early and my still being half asleep) from $100 / barrel.
Now.... I seem to remember not too long back when crude was $140 / barrel we weren't paying anything like these prices.
I'm no economist but somewhere, someone is making a lot of money from the final users of petrol/diesel.
Ohh..... just by the way, last weekend, the service station just off the A1 at Grantham was charging £144.9 / ltr. Hard times huh.
Would I join a protest ? You bet I would !!!!!

It seems that the protest was a bit of a flop http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-13327814One thing that I will say about oil company profits is that these are huge, worldwide companies with billions of pounds of assets and hundreds of millions if not billions of pound of turnover. It's not much wonder that they make huge profits. Mind you £4.2 billion for a QUARTER seems beyond comprehension. The other thing to remember is that much of what we pay for fuel in this country is tax. I haven't read all of this link http://www.petrolprices.com/fuel-tax.html but tax was, at one time, as high as 81% of the price we paid at the pumps!

If http://www.petrolprices.com/price-of-petrol.html is anything to go by, as of yesterday I paid £0.82p on every litre of fuel I bought yesterday . Admittedly that means taxation is only 61% of total price, but I think there may be a psychological breakpoint if we get to the day where we pay more than £1 a litre in tax. Jon

Went down 10c a litre yesterday, this morning back up 8c a litre... And my tank was nearly full yesterday, so I didn't need to fill up...

I suspect that this will have a bigger impact on motorists speeding along the autobahns.

same, its a shame that a car + insurance for a 18 year old new driver PLUS the cost of fuel means theres no way im getting a car but I still went down with my mum and dad, it was a fairly decent turn out at the start but the police stopped a lot of people from going down, there where about 500 extra police on duty! on the video was the main entrance but there is 2 more, I went down to one of them and we stopped about 7 tankers from going out with fuel. I had to leave at 9 and there was about 20 with us and i had heard 40 down at the other end on the video. it sucks that loads went on the go slows but didnt stay for the actual blockade.
