David Cameron's adviser says health reform is a chance to make big profits

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011 ... lth-reform

Quote:
A senior adviser to David Cameron says the NHS could be improved by charging patients and will be transformed into a "state insurance provider, not a state deliverer" of care.

Mark Britnell, who was appointed to a "kitchen cabinet" advising the prime minister on reforming the NHS, told a conference of executives from the private sector that future reforms would show "no mercy" to the NHS and offer a "big opportunity" to the for-profit sector.

The revelations come on the eve of an important speech by the prime minister on the future of the NHS, during which he is expected to try to allay widespread fears that the reforms proposed in health secretary Andrew Lansley's health and social care bill would lead to privatisation.

if every single person in the world /facepalmed at once, there still would not be enough facepalm to express how stupid this is. The single worst public health system in the developed world, and these idiots want to copy it.

i stated some time ago, well before the election, that higher education would head along a similar road to the USofA
the NHS will not be far behind a similar setup that they have in the good old USofA

you want education then you will have to pay for it
you want healthcare then in the future you will have to be able to afford it

that is the future of the UKofA

when does the revolution start ...

Jon

Technically the system is very good if you can afford it, though that is not the case for the majority of people. So how long before Brits go bankrupt because of Tory medical bills or are denied care?

The fact that the Tories are talking about big profits from the NHS clearly indicates that it is not safe in Tory hands.

Nothing is safe in Tory hands.

Don't be poor, elderly, sick, disadvantaged, out of work, because you're not going to get any help under a Tory government. Ever.

I hate to stop people in the righteous indignation, but this is all ready happening in the NHS.
Quote:
The future of the St Mary’s NHS Treatment Centre in Portsmouth has been secured after a new contract has been awarded for operating the site.
NHS Portsmouth, the primary care trust responsible for meeting the health needs of the city, announced today that it had awarded a new contract to the existing providers, Care UK.
Care UK is set to be given a new contract three-year contract, starting 4 July, with the option of a one-year extension.

Yeah, we know. It's just going to get even worse.
