Didn't even know they'd voted on it...

I still think it's a daft idea.

I support the Tories in cost cutting etc, but most of their other "big ideas" since being elected are total crap.

I support it in so far as it might actually get Police Chiefs to take low-level crime seriously, and increase officer cover on a Friday & Saturday night.

As for budget cuts, I don't think it's a coincidence that a year on from government budget cuts, the IMF, BoE and OBR have all downgraded UK growth prospects. It's estimated that the slowing economy means the Chancellor will have to borrow £45bn more than he anticipated, and as such will miss his borrowing targets. In effect, the government risk making the borrowing situation worse in the short to medium term by slashing too quickly.

It will have no effect on how police be run. The police have a multitide of objectives and Friday and Saturday night are already a priority. the issue is that these cost a lot of money in terms of overtime already.

I knew that a slowdown was likely the moment they passed their first budget. It was only a matter of time before the economy started to slow down. So will Osbourne blame Labour for the £45 billion more that they have to borrow. Oh and add in £7 billion that they will lose when they drive Ireland to default. I am not counting the £46 billion that state owned RBS is on the hook for, that is another Osbourne bonus. It is only a matter of time before the ratings agencies downgrade UK debt.

All I remember about her - not the politician, the other one - was that she was in the 'Smack my Bitch Up' video.

I remember one of the rags saying she was a cocaine-taking escort/prostitute, but in the manner of 'Look at how far page 3 girl has fallen!'

Very, very, very bad idea. Politics need to be kept out of active Policing as much as possible, it's hard enough already.

Exactly how are they expected to go after dodgy politicians if it becomes too political?
