Now I'm feeling like I've been kicked in the nuts.
Hope things get back to normal soon Dave. :|

Frankly, I wouldn't have sat there and gritted my teeth about it. I have a pretty high pain threshold as it happens - I have had fillings without injection on more than a couple of occasions for example - but I don't see the point in enduring that level of discomfort because somebody didn't check if the jab had worked or not...

Nevertheless, I hope you're feeling OK soon Dave. A very unpleasant experience to have to go through. I hope your other half appreciates it.

Jon

I think I'd rather choose the no sex option, rather that going through that.

My order with a merchant working alongside Amazon qualifies for free delivery... until I get to the checkout process and it suddenly doesn't. I'm sick of the idiots who don't understand/think they can get away with extra charges for posting to Ulster :x

FECKING GERMANS!

If, after getting married, you want to change your name, you have to pay to declare your new name at your nearest embassy. You have to make an appointment 3 months in advance using an online form buried deep within the London Embassy's labyrinthine website. If you then want a new passport, you need the name change certificate. For this you then have to (separately) pay and arrange for Berlin to send you a certificate. If you then want a new passport you've got to once again arrange an appointment at least 3 months in advance and then travel to London.

But they're not content with a Kafkaesque bureaucracy that would embarrass Byzantium and has you travail your way through a needlessly complicated certificate-based Holy grail Quest where instead of telling you what you need all at once they dole out the clues one by grudging one like a teutonic self-important Mr. Bumble.

Oh no.

Because the online form you need to make the appointment doesn't fecking work!

I had a rant about my real-life first-hand experiences of an officialdom so bewildering that pretty much every German I've ever spoken to describes it as farcical.

It's hardly xenophobia to marry a German and be hunting for jobs in Germany, surely? ;)

How I must have seemed to others while I was a student and how they appear to me now.

My hairdresser has a hatred for students. I was talking to him about this the other day and how when I was a student I didn't understand why the locals hated us. I loved my time as a student.

Yet now when I look back I cant help but think I was (at times) an absolute penis.

There is a German expression: There are only two groups of people you don't [LIFTED] with, the Mosad and the German Tax Office!

Clearly considering so many germans had money in Liechtenstein that many thought that they could. Though now that the Germamn Tax Office has details of such money they can now be very afraid.
