A combined air-breathing/rocket fuel aircraft that can get to orbit.

The proposed Skylon vehicle would do the job of a big rocket but operate like an airliner, taking off and landing at a conventional runway.

Now wait patiently for any country other than the UK to put the plans into production.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Please can we have a space programme?

India has one and we give them International Aid. Doesn't seem to make sense in my head.

We should have a bloody city on the Moon by now, and a Martian outpost. Instead we fiddle around with micro satellites and gaze at the Moon with the rosy-tinted spectacles of nostalgia.

We, as a species, are a bloody disgrace when it comes to exploration.

Yeah. Gone are the days when we would happily strap a few nutters in a bucket, sit it on top of a mahoosive firework and hope that the maths was done properly. :D

It looks like something from Thunderbirds, just prior to it needing a rescue mission from International Rescue.

Didn't we invent something like this 30 years ago?

Indeed. Too much time fighting over oil and territory when we have a bigger problem of being hit by something from space.
