You're not alone. At least, I suppose, with Android on it, you're not at the whims of what Samsung think makes a good UI.

If you are thinking about buying it go to the store and try it out. Leave all forms of credit at home so that you cannot be persuaded to buy. Just try it out. Get some actual hands on experience, and find out how it does the things that you want it to do. Then go and think about it.

Easier said than done, on an island where polyphonic ringtones are the norm and mp3s are cutting edge. Nevermind. I've taken everyone's advice on board and not gone ahead. For the record, there seems to be a lot of Samsung hate here. Is HTC that much better? As it appears they are the only two players in Androidville and the iPhone is simply too expensive. I really like the screens on the Samsungs.

TBH I've had Samsung handsets and loved them.
I had the original Omnia i900 and loved that, I also loved the look of the Omnia II but never got the chance to play with one.
IIRC big_D has played with the Omnia 7 and reported good things.
Maybe it's the cheaper Samsung handsets that are naff?
I'm about to get my hands on the Google Nexus S (made by Samsung) so I'll let you know what it's like, but the Galaxy S2 looks fantastic.

I had one Samsung back in 2004 and vowed never to get another. The gf had one but luckily the godforsaken pile of [LIFTED] broke a few months back. Haven't missed them at all and it will be a long time until I look at another. My favourite phone was the Sony J5. I would have stuck with them had they not joined forces with Erickson and swapped the wheel for a clitmouse.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X-10 Mini Pro. Red and I both have them, the audio is amazing, the touch screen works well and it has a slide out qwerty keyboard for email etc.

Simply no
£220 new £30 less for no warranty and possibly dodgy kit? I'd give it a miss
It's very easy to root and upgrade them too, and to unlock them for any network
