Just installed the OS and from a DVD image and now I have all the applications installed I have a couple of bugs:

iPhoto library greyed out in desktop system preference

iTunes won't launch. The error is "iTunes cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer and make sure iTunes works with this version of Mac OS X"

I have run software update and reinstalled it 3 times, also downloading it from the web. I've been through all the replies on google and no joy.

Hmm, it all seems to relate to an item called "AVFoundationCF.framework" - or lack of that item. I'm guessing it might be related to the iCloud additions in iTunes 10.3, because my version of iTunes 10.2 doesn't have the "AVFoundationCF.framework" in the location mentioned in the log.

Have you tried installing a slightly earlier version of iTunes, say 10.2?
Personally, from what I've read, iTunes 10.3 is a work in progress, lots of bugs and quirks! In fact, Apple released 10.3.1 almost immediately after the 10.3 launch! I always wait a few weeks after a new version comes up.

If AVFoundationCF.framework weren't there though, it'd surely fire up a "Library not loaded"-type message.

To me it looks like a new version of iTunes requiring an updated version of "AVFoundationCF.framework/Support/MediaToolbox.framework" that hasn't propagated to Carolyn's machine yet. Is there any chance of regressing iTunes to an earlier version?

Surely bringing the OS up to date would have the same net effect?

If the updated framework hasn't been pushed to anything but the nightly servers, it might not be available for Carolyn to DL.

Another thought is do all the necessary files have the correct permissions? Or would that trigger an "Access Denied" message?

I've run software update but no luck but my colleague still has the older version so going to try that now.

Could only get a copy of 10.2 not the install and that didn't work and also tried on a second account on this machine. Just as well this isn't my main library or I would be really pissed off but it does mean I can't watch all my MP4 movies - boo!

Found a copy of 10.1 and resolved it by installing 9 from OS CD then updating to 10.1 and downgrading my library. Also removed quicktime x and installed 7 but not sure if that helped with the resolution.
