The comments that get my back up on Bit are any beginning, containing or ending with the phrase "console kiddies."

My Father-in-law went on his computer to find the internet going at a crawl. This continued for several days so he called the phone company. They've throttled him because his machine has been sending thousands of spam emails.

There is a lot of chaff on Bit that you have to wade through. I think I may have commented on that thread, sure Crysis 2 is no Crysis but it's not a bad game if you consider it on its own merits rather than in relation to its predecessor.

I'm hoping it's not too bad; just forked out a whole £15 for it at Game whilst on my lunch break.

I bought it cheap, completed it and then sold it on. Don't read too much into that though, it's not a terrible game. It's worth paying £15 for, I just didn't rate the replay value.

I applied for a job last week. It came via a local jobs web site, and I duly tweaked my CV, put together some examples of my work and sent my application off.
Nothing heard.
A few days later, the same job was advertised via the same place. I sent my application off again, mildly suggesting it may have been missed before. Nothing heard, again.
Guess what? There's that job again. Now, I accept that I don't have an "HND, degree or other formal qualification in Graphic Design or similar" on my CV, but I do have something over 20 years' real world experience in the business. In my book, experience trumps a framed certificate on the wall.
I dislike being ignored. It's just plain rude. If they don't think I'm a suitable candidate, simply based on my lack of a paper qualification, then they should tell me. Don't just ignore me. I tend to get a bit arsey about it, and will likely start to shout a bit louder to be noticed.
I'm considering applying again. This time, I feel my covering email may be a little more forthright about their candidate selection procedures. If they've had to repost the job twice, then they obviously haven't had anyone applying with "HND, degree or other formal qualification in Graphic Design or similar", so therefore they should be looking at interviewing other likely candidates. In other words, me.
They have a vacancy, I need a job. It takes, what, an hour to interview me? It could turn out to be an hour of their time well spent.

Yes it does. I've got a degree in Graphic Design (Illustration) and no-one has ever asked about me about qualifications; it has always been down to the portfolio of work.

The German authorities / ISPs are very hot on that at the moment. 2 of our customers have received letters saying that their (business) networks are being used for sending millions of Spam e-mails and if they don't sort the problem out within 10 days, their internet connection will be terminated, until they have fixed the problem.

Gah Goodwood bl**dy Festival of bl**dy Speed! Not only is it making our holiday a nightmare in logistics, they have now offered my cousin work for the time we are visiting him, so we won't get to see him!! Good for my cousin, he has been out of work for several months, but the GFoS is ruining our holiday plans! Also the dog started crying in agony this morning, when I brough him back from his morning walk. Took him to the vets and looks like he has hip and back problems. He will be x-rayed next week, he has received painkilling injections, but doesn't seem to be able to stand up at the moment.

Hope that you can sort the holiday out and also that the dog gets better.

Did a bit of shopping in Tesco yesterday (I live the high life, me), and upon returning to the car saw that there was a carrier bag just behind the rear wheel. I first thought that I must have taken it out of the boot and left it there when getting a couple of carrier bags out of the car but when I gingerly looked in realised that it was a bag of assorted rubbish....burger detritus, fag ends, tissues, etc. Obviously the driver of the (badly) parked car next to me had just dumped it before driving off.
What kind of disgusting, feckless b@st@rd would do that?

Sadly, they're on the increase! Was driving along the other day and some moron in the car in front wound down his window and threw his half-finished fish and chips out the window - which promptly floated back and splattered onto my windscreen making a lovely fine mess of my car. I'd have tried to get their number plate if it wasn't for the grease, chips and tomato sauce smeared on my windscreen, the mindless tw@ts!! The attitude of a lot of people these days is "I'm alright, Jack, and bugger anyone else"

Simply Electronics. Never again.
Ordered a Pentax K5 body which is showing as in stock and usual dispatched in 1-2 days. 6 days later and I'd heard nothing. Tried to contact via email for last 3 days and get no response. Tried to call yesterday and the phones were down.
At this point (and after doing some research on the net) I've come to the conclusion that they don't have the camera in stock at all. Their customer service is also pants.
I;ve asked the bank (credit card) to start proceedings to get the money back. I'd normal be patient and wait but i) I'm pissed because I wanted the camera to take away with me on Tuesday and ii) their point blank refusal to get back in touch with me has forced my hand.
I wish I'd paid the £25 more and bought it from SRS who incidentally got the new lens to me the day after ordering (same day as I ordered the camera).

TV censorship. Goddammit! Watching Police Academy: Citizens On Patrol. They've censored out one seen where one chump sprays deodarant in his mouth. They've censored another one where the lovely Leslie Easterbrook jumps into the swimming pool and has a wet T-shirt where you can see her nipples. I vividly remember this as a child and yet they've censored it out! Yet profanity and violence seems to be the norm in daytime TV.

There's a lot of it about, too. A series of James Bond films were shown not too long ago and they were cut both for content and to fit the adverts in. A scene in Dumb and Dumber where Lauren Holly's very nice bottom is briefly exposed is usually removed for afternoon screenings on TV.
