Not if you're buying it from me. Seriously. You can totally buy my Body Shop £6 brush from me for £50. It's cool.

1. Watch all of mantic59's videos on youtube 2. Join the badgerandblade forum and read the wiki guides 3. Go online shopping - I used mankind and traditionalshaving for my purchases. Bear in mind they both take around a week or two to deliver.

Look at Merkur and Parker razors for beginners. A sample set of blades. Brushes - you can start with a cheapo job if you want. Obviously the higher the spend the better the brush. I'd go for one around £20 minimum. Soap/cream - variable. I went for the soap option and that seems fine. Creams work too. You could try both. Pre-shave oil - not a prerequisite and some doubt the need for one. A necessity for me. Styptic pencil and alum block - must haves IMO for when starting out. Helps stop bleeding from nicks/cuts etc, Post-shave balm - I went for Edwin Jagger lotion and there's no stinging/burning - just very soothing and moisturising.
Go to the badgerandblade website - they have a review section so look at what you want for the price and read the reviews,

Speed + Porsche GT3 + suspected alcoholic intake (hours before tweeted a photo drinking with friends) was just asking for it

I think it depends. If it lasts ten times longer than my £6 brush, then go for it. You've saved £7.

But that's a pure bristle brush. I've already got a best badger brush so silvertip is the next logical step. Super badger would be a little cheaper but the difference in price means I might as well go who whole hog (well badger)

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

40 degrees and cloudless here. Unbearable with clothes on, so I'm gonna go to the beach. Just thought I'd mention it.
