Not content with kicking back and living off her millions, Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has unveiled a new website that seeks to peddle her writings in electronic format. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13889578What is interesting is that she’s not selling via KIndle or iTunes directly, but rather a DRM-free format which can be read on either device. The files will be digitally watermarked, but asides from that she’s decided to duck the fees that would normally go to Amazon and Apple by selling direct.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I read them, but I don't rate them highly.

There were rumours that at one point she would be writing an episode of Doctor Who. I’m glad she didn’t - she said that there would be non-Potter stuff on the way. I suspect she’ll do a Sue Townsend - write another Potter story when the bank balance looks a little low.

Hopefully that shouldn't be for a few years yet.

She's 46 years old and said to be worth £560m. Even if she wrote not one more word for the rest of her life and even if the Harry Potter franchise didn't mint her another penny (and bear in mind the final Potter movie is just about the biggest family blockbuster out this year) and also assuming none of her existing wealth appreciates at all, she'd still be able to spend £10m a year every year for the rest of her life before she ran out. She's never going to have to do anything for the money, ever again. Jon
