I fail miserably to see any plus points to it, and a hell of a lot of negatives.

No.
The price of not being able to set our own interest rate vastly out weighs the benefit of not having to change your cash when going abroad.

Seems like a great idea if you travel a lot...But I've only had to change currency once, and don't plan on traveling that much. It would take a while for things to setting, how much for a loaf of bread!? Is that good? etc...

OK, after a couple of months things would settle down as you find out that the shops aren't screwing you over, but it'll be hell at first!

For me, it's a no.

Yes.

Travelling and doing business all over Europe, the Euro is great.

As to Sterling, what about all the other countries that had to give up their own money for "Monopoly Money", yes, that is also what it was called over here when it was introduced.

But I want them to wait until the Pound is a bit stronger! My pension is in Sterling, so it lost about 60% of its value (to me) over the last few months!

Going to visit friends in Europe is easy, I don't have to think about it. Going to visit family in the UK is a complete pain in the rear!

Comparing prices between countries is also a lot easier, so you can see easily whether you are getting ripped off or not and not just that the currency is having a bad day...

They should have spoken up when they had the chance?

Surely with one currency there should be one economy? So a loaf of break in Germany should be the same as in France? I thought that was the point of having the Euro...

I disagree, having a stable currency is far more important. If investors leave Sterling in droves (As they have been doing) then we could easily end up in a situation like Iceland. You can have all the economic freedom in the world, it's not going to count for anything if no-one likes your money or wants to do business with you.

We're on that slope now - the UK is at risk of getting its credit rating reduced - what kind of signal does that send to investors? The UK economy is far from invincible and it makes sense to change to a currency that's more stable than our own. The Euro, being the second largest currency in the world, does not bounce around like Sterling has done this year, and will continue to do in the future.

Why? A loaf of bread in London costs a different amount to one down here? Petrol prices are different around the County, let alone the country. Shall I go on?

Didn't the Euro almost cripple Italy and another couple of countries?
I'm sure there were a few that wanted to switch back.

Why don't we take the dollar instead?
