Can you believe it? Sonic the Hedgehog is 20 years old? Neither can I.

I never really liked Sonic but, as a testament to it's lasting appeal, my kids still love it.

It lost the plot a bit after sonic 2 IMO, but then maybe I just grew out of it! Can't believe it's been 20 years since I got my mega drive!

The original MD games - you could never wait to play them, but do you know anyone who ever sat long enough to finish one? :?

Played it a few times with friends but platforms like this very rarely interested me.

My boss has a 5 year old lad who loves it. He has the T-shirts, lunch box, wall paper...

I think it's fantastic for an 8 bit classic to still have so many fans after how many generations of processors and consoles?

The MegaDrive was a 16 bit system. The GameGear, for which there was a Sonic title, was an 8 bit system.

I completed the game gear version once. I was in hospital waiting for an appointment for about 4 or 5 hours. They had a game gear so I plugged in and played the game from start to finish :-)

Indeed.

However, Sonic was just as much a classic on the 8-bit systems.

Wow. I remember when the likes of Rice Krispies were doing a competition to win a mega drive with a sonic the hedgehog game. I entered and didn't win but had lots of fun spending a saturday morning trying to draw him!
