Well why would the police expect a 13year old to be up at 11pm? I would have told them to go away and come back at a reasonable time. Also since they wanted to be threatening about it that it should be conducted in a police station with a duty solicitor. Let them dig themselves an all mighty hole.

13 years old, 23:20, saturday night. The police could have chosen a better time but it's no big deal.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Nor is throwing an apple as far as I'm concerned.

When I was a kid some lad threw a stone at my 'gang' and I just happened to turn around and it smacked me in the head. The gushing blood made the other 'gang' run off but the kid was later brought around to my house by his dad to apologise.

The kid was in tears and I accepted the apology, I was about 8 or so so that amounted to 'ok' from me. No cops, no drama.

Never take an apple to a stone fight.

I actually quite like the idea of a kid being terrified by the police and being made sign a piece of paper saying "I promise I wont do it again"; if it's appropriate. The being dragged out of bed part makes it more effective and less likely to be forgotten - it also makes it much more likely that he's in, rather than out somewhere terrorising people with fruit.

As always, we only have snippets of information. Perhaps the boy was a total bully at school, and this was the final straw for the "victim". Perhaps he's a haemophiliac for whom bruising could cause serious complications. Perhaps the "apple" was made out of depleted uranium and had poison tipped tungsten barbs. Kids can be very cruel, so this kind of thing goes on. The parents of the bullies always play it down, tell half-truths and often down right lie about it.

1) So if it happened at school, why didn't they report it to the school to sort out rather than the police?
2) Why are the police such retards. Anyone with half a brain cell could tell you that time of day was just silly.

Well if suppose the incident happened on a Friday and the bruise appeared that evening or on the Saturday morning, then who should the parents complain to? Leaving it until the Monday would likely mean that the bruise has disappeared or look less significant, and perhaps they didn't have a camera or thought the results didn't look as grave as they thought it was.

Perhaps the police acted on it as soon as they had the time, after prioritising other needs. Perhaps they thought that it would be best to see the youth asap so that the words they had with him would have more effect. Perhaps the father should have used the energy he received from the visit to further reprimand his son, rather than complaining to the authorities and media that his poor son, who caused physical harm to another, shouldn't be worken up past his bed-time.

If they could delay sending them round for other priorities, then surely it could have been delayed until the following morning.

They don't need a bruise to still be there to report it to the school.

When did parents get taken out of the equation?

Why involve the Police?

Yes but if it was a MacBook Air it would have been quite good as a discus.

To be fair we don't know how the victim felt in all this. For all we know it was part of an ongoing bullying campaign.

At any rate, the incident on its own is a battery and possibly assault too - if the victim saw it coming, and IMO entirely worthy of Police attention. I have no doubt the little angel is really a little twat.

adidan wrote:

Because assault and battery are offences against the person, which is the most serious category of crime in English law.
