Gah! So embarassed. Especially since I normally refer to it as ibuprofen and paracetamol instead of nurofen and calpol. Confuses the hell out of parents. Must've managed to confuse myself!

No confusion here - I was talking about the two brands I had in the cupboard at the time. The supermarkets were much slower to offer alternatives for kiddies' pain relief.

I wasn't even cooking anything in it; just keeping some dishes warm while I served. The door exploded after I'd finished and turned it off!
It's 39 years old so I guess it's not covered by any warranty, EU or otherwise...

Write a letter, not a complaint, but a FYI. You may catch them in a good (marketing) mood.

Sounds like HD has gone. Got another machine you can firewire it off?

It needed a reset of video and ram memory. It is all working now. I have thinned out my login items list.

Its a feature. Your iMac is all ready prepped for the cloud.

Turned out it was a video and memory reset problem.

My rig has developed some sort of frequency vibration over the last couple of days, that I cannot find the source of.

It's not the fans, rads, pumps, PSU, board mounts or the case panels. All the drives, cards and spare PCI plates are screwed down tight.

It's frikkin annoying.
