Thanks, that got me to put my arse in gear...

We took around 600 photos on our trip to London and Brighton... No space to put them all up, but here are a few...

Just for Alex: On the Front in Brighton:

I found this statue stunning, the photo came out quite well, no editing.

Well, you can't really do sight seeing in London without having a photo of Big Ben...

Yummy.

Also the final pic of the seagull on the wing is nicely captured. :)
Pleased with that lens then?

I thought the Camero would get your approval. :D

The lens is very flexible and I'm generally very happy with it; but I'd really like a macro mode / lens. Nearly bought the 100mm Sigma macro this weekend, and the 70-300 with Macro is also very tempting, for the price, but at 169€, I was thinking the quality was probably lacking. They also have one that has just been replaced, the price on Amazon is 499€ down from 1299€ Very tempted...

The Canon 70-300 is, I'm told, thought of as being the hidden L series lens. It's apparently very good. I'm really hoping it is, because I've ordered one for work - in fact I took off the 70-200mm L lens for it, so I could get a 8-16mm as well.

Yeah, that's what most people seem to think it's for. I have, however, had to use it for its proper purpose - as outlined in the owner's manual - a couple of times.

Went to a Michelin star restaurant for my birthday. That was the main dish. The courses were:

Salmon bhaji, duck thing, rice crispy wotnot with a cherry in

Water with cucumber in - might have been for washing our hands, but we drank it anyway.

Pea soup with tomato bread

glass of nondescript fizzy wine

crabby blob with a "rich seafood sauce"

(pictured) pigeon breast wrapped in parma ham served with blobs of beetroot and spinach "surprise" parcels.

Jelly, custard and ice-cream.

Picture (c) my mate with his D40 and 18mm macro lens.

Total cost £35 plus tip. I left 5 £Scottish because the service really was rather good, although the waiters were incredibly creepy. I still think it was a great deal.

That is exceptionally good value. That's a price for a main course in one normally.

Indeed. If only they'd deep served fried chicken wings it would have been perfect.
