I'm doing my first ever triathlon on Sunday! Can't wait and starting to get a bit nervous now It's a "sprint" triathlon which doesn't really have a defined length but the one I'm doing is... swim - 400m (in a pool) bike - 22.4km (very hilly) run - 5km (flat but off road) I really have no clue what time to aim for or anything but for the events alone I can do... swim - 10mins bike - under an hour run - just over 20 mins SO I'm aiming for about 1.5 hours for the whole thing but I guess it'll be more like 1 hour 45 mins. I really can't wait to do it now

My extremely overweight boss survived one a few weeks ago that was about the same as that. I was actually quite surprised because I don't fancy it myself! I must ask what his time was; I think probably about 8 hours

Best of luck with it, I think 1.5 is probably a good time to aim for, the adrenaline of the day always gives you a bit more in my experience.

First time isn't about beating a time, just enjoy it and try to stick with a group, if they're too slow/quick, then leave them, enjoy it

You could have watched a film during that time.

Congratulations! My gf's older brother is 60 and still runs 6 - 8 marathons a year. I think that is a bit too much, but doing the regular training, especially swimming and riding the bike, to stay in shape, is no bad thing.
