I actually like this picture. You're right, Mark, it's not flattering in a "classic portrait" kind of way, but the photo has got a certain something to it... the best way I can describe it is to say it reminds me of a polaroid instamatic type picture.

Nice effect. In my opinion.

That's the point really. The K-5 has inbuilt cross-processing and retro camera filters for that very effect you mention. The photo of Nic was never meant to be flattering it was just to test the effect.

It's good being right, but if I could make a suggestion, I think a better picture to apply the effect to would have been the one of Nic and Emily, (the pic with the green number one signs) as the composition reminds me of the kind of family snapshots I am more used to seeing from that, (polaroid) era.

Just a little bit of constructive criticism, but remember not to take anything that any of us say personally. :)
