Maybe we should retract that Tottenham twinned with Belfast ceremony.

They could get told off for that if there was a restriction. I hope they are ready to take their medicine. Anyway, Enfield seems to have been last night’s place of disturbance.

Is this the new game? Riot Lottery. You have to name the districts where riots will take place or do you have to buy a Riot Bingo card or is it given away with the Sun Newspaper?

Riot Roulette - you open a shop in one of six different London districts every weekend for five weekends.

I wonder if Greenford will riot? It could use a tidy up.

(Reports now of trouble in Birmingham city centre and a large gathering in Leeds after another person has been shot by Police.)

Hmm. Seems to me that the key appears to be the whole issue of being 'shot by the Police.' Perhaps people should look into ways of not being 'shot by the Police' and avoiding behaviour likely to attract this outcome, much as you would with a wild animal.

News reports seem to suggest that 3 shots were fired by the police. The policeman who was hit was hit by one of another policemans bullet. The man who died was carrying a pistol but it is not thought he fired it.
"Eye witnesses" called it a police execution.

If he was carrying a gun and he was confronted by armed police, he had two choices. Immediately surrender or probably die. Whether he actually discharged the weapon or not is utterly irrelevant. Police firearms officers are trained to fire if they feel they or any member of the public are under imminent threat, not to be polite and let the other guy fire first just in case someone might second guess them later. If they did that, we'd have an awful lot more dead policemen. The last time an unarmed policewoman (as it happens) confronted armed criminals she wound up dead. I'd rather she was still alive and they weren't, frankly. If you're carrying a gun in the UK, IMO you've implicitly accepted the risk you may end up in a confrontation with the police and be shot to death. They don't muck about and neither should they. If you don't want to probably wind up dead, don't carry a gun. It's not difficult. I have no problem whatsoever with people who think it's a good idea to carry firearms ending up on a slab. Live by the sword, as it were... Jon

I think they are going for more of a Vitoria Line Bingo theme. We've already had riots in Walthamstow, Tottenham Hale, Highbury and Islington, Oxford Circus and Brixton. I live on the road between Tottenham and Walthamstow; I've heard nothing but police sirens for days. I should pop out and do some... let's call it "shopping"
