Mrs. V has said she wants our daughter to walk to a main road and I'll meet her. No. If they are attacking cars what might they do to a teenage girl? I'd have no problem introducing these scumbags to my bonnet, given the possible alternative. If they happen to die... They shouldn't have been there.

Thanks jonbwfc Your response along with my quote has further confirmed that what they are doing, backed by the reason they are using to justify it, is indeed terrorism. Fair enough if you question the reasoning behind the terrorism act but you cannot ignore its existence. 70mph on a motorway is law, I dont agree with it, but I know, due to having a reasonable level of common sense and not being a scumbag, that if I break that law I should expect to be dealt with accordingly.

My sister's chef grew up in toxteth during the riots in 85. And he said "[LIFTED] this, I'm getting a trade", went to catering college and never looked back. Personally, I don't believe all this disenfranchised youth with no opportunity [LIFTED]. The tools you require to better yourself are out there, you just need to want to.

Which is a failing we must all own as a society, but more specifically, what's happened to good parenting? I don't think that's it - Theresa May said she could cut Police spending without the risk of violent outbreaks. So she did, and here we are. The Police are being [LIFTED] about something stupid (I know 2 people with family members/other halves in the force) by the higher ups, putting desk workers on streets in districts they just don't know and putting taser-trained officers behind desks. I'm not sure what you want us to wake up to? As I say, everyone is to blame for apparently fostering a society that in some areas permits this sort of behaviour. More specifically, the people looting the local businesses and setting things on fire are properly to blame. We all have choices in our behaviour. These people have decided that they want to go out and steal and burn something down. I'd like petrol to be 50p a litre, and I'd like to wake up everyday with my ex, and I'd like tobacco to be a healthy addition to my diet. I think societally we have created a generation of people who believe they have a god-given entitlement to things. To be famous. To be respected universally. To have material wealth. Sadly, this isn't the case, and all these things must be earned. The moment when they turn round and realise that your life doesn't have any of these things doesn't prompt them to improve themselves, it prompts them into criminality with a grudge against authority for not providing it. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it feels like to me. Children must grow up.

IPCC initial report announced on Radio 4 news. The two shots fired were both shot by the police. The policeman shot was actually shot by another police man. There was a gun in the car, but it had not been fired, also no mention of where in the car it was found or it of was being handled at the time.

Just heard a news report on the radio, the Printworks/Victoria station area seems to be a flashpoint - maybe they're going to trash Selfridges? - with police on horseback on Cross Street. Also mayhem in Salford apparently. Routes out of town through Salford (A6/M602) are slow going due to smoke( ? that bit wasn't entirely clear). Hope yours are already out John. Jon

So three days of consecutive rioting is keeping the peace then?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I would like to know where all the parents are of the, reportedly, 11-16 year olds that have been on the street.
Oh, that's right, they're probably carrying the heavier things out of the shops.

Rubbish, we have 110,000 regular soldiers and 30,000 territorials, plus thousands of reservists. The largest foreign deployment that matches your description is Afghanistan which uses about 10,000 troops, not all of whom are from the army. Other foreign deployments are small, so there are definitely more British soldiers inside Britain than outside it.

You realise that that to be terrorism, in section 1 a, b and c all need to be true, right? Pinching trainers from burning shops is not a political or religious cause.

Looks like Miss Selfridge in Manchester city centre is on fire now, plus a building in Salford (along with cars set on fire). I was just saying to a work colleague this morning (I work in Old Trafford area) that it would be Manchester's turn tonight. I hope I'm wrong, but it appears to be kicking off. I know I posted this in the News post, but I still can't believe the mentality of these two stupid tarts... London rioters: 'Showing the rich we do what we want'I really despair!

I walked past a kicked in Blue Inc store on my way to work this morning. The remaining windows all had "Sale 70% off" posters in them. Apparently some hooded youngsters were holding out for an extra 30% discount.

Yes but this is not meant to intimidate the public. It is simply anger and criminal activity. Definitely not religious political or ideological. Though if it were the follow on of a political protest could that be enough to define it as terrorism? Just watching Channel 4 news, about how the world sees this. The Germans comparing London to Mogadishu. What surprises me is the style issues of these people. JD Sports! Miss Selfridge. Boots. No class at all.

I was talking to one of our sales guys today at work as he is an ex-copper and I asked him why the police were just hanging back and not wading in with their batons. He said the problem is now the police are afraid the scumbags will try to sue them for assault so they are relucatant to get "stuck-in" Perhaps we should ask the French police for help - they would not tolerate this behaviour - it would be in with the water canons, tear gas and police with batons flying.

Don't forget, these poverty ridden people are forced into organising this on £300 smart phones. Spare a thought.
