I reckon they've designed it specifically to piss off windows users. Morons.

Anyway, I've located the itunes data on the old laptop hdd and have copied it across, rebuilt the database and am just syncing things up.

It wouldn't surprise me if I'm missing apps on both in itunes and on the iphone.

I suspect that there are too many hidden codes within windows to make it practical for Apple to keep both versions in sync.

The settings are in the correct place in windows (the users app directory) but they'd only be moved if you used the migration wizard or know where to look.

As nobody ever uses the migration wizard (or copies the hidden folders in the users profile) the files rarely make it to the new computer.

It always gets you the first time you move computers but you soon remember to do it the next time.

At the mo, rather importantly, I can (apparently) download all previous purchases, which is something I wanted to be able to do.

So this weekend, I'll download and sort everything into playlists and folers.

Are you calling us morons or Apple?

As long as your setting "copy music to iTunes library' is checked all your data should be in one folder. Any apps on your iPhone will be synched next time you connect to iTunes if they are not already there.

No, just Apple. Apple users are more like sheeple.

EDIT: Except me. I'm a wolf in sheeple's clothing!

That's fantastic Jon - one of my pet complaints which you've all heard; passwords no one can remember get written down on post-it notes and stuck on monitors. If they change every bleedin' few weeks, that just means even fewer people can remember them and hence even more post-its.

My password is "I havn't got a f*cking clue"

One gripe though - you should always link or at least include the mouse-over!

Sick of 'test' time being budgeted in to projects and never used, when I get a project to test I get at most half a day when 3 are allocated because it runs over, when it's one of mine the project nearly runs entirely over it because the project changed drastically at the 11th hour (one particular section has changed radically 4 times now) and they wonder why it takes so much longer to retrofit brand new business rules in ot a system

On a double whammy still not got my new contract that I was meant to have nearly 2 weeks ago now, or had a project review from any projects finished in the last 2 months which is well past due...

Indeed. The use of that word should be punishable by social ostracism.
