Have we ever had one over at this place? Or should I start it? My Twitter feed is rather bash-centric tonight Edd

Would you buy from this company? http://www.nonfacture.co.ukI haven't seen a website this pathetic in about ten years. Not to mention the spelling and grammar errors (GASP members may not want to follow the link... ) And the nature of this business? Marketing and branding...

No I hadn't, thanks for pointing it out. I might have a look at ebay when I get home Having used BeOS as my main O/s for a while I'm also going to have to check out the progress of Haiku.

I've just managed to find a CD copy of a piece of classical music that's haunted me since 1981. Then, I only had a brief snippet of the piece. Over the years I've searched high and low, on the interweb and in specialist music shops, with no luck. I searched Amazon only to find plenty of works by the composer - but not the one I sought! This evening, after hunting via Google, I found it on Amazon.com. I'd checked the UK site earlier, and as usual not turned it up, which puzzled me. Anyway, if I could only get it from the US, I thought I'd better do so. Out of curiosity, after placing the order (about £16, which wasn't too bad, but who knows if I'd be liable for import duties and VAT on delivery here...) I searched the UK site again with slightly different wording, and there it was, bold as brass! I cancelled the US order and reordered from the UK. £17 with free delivery and no hidden extras. So, hopefully a nigh-on 30 year search for a recording of this symphony will soon come to an end. Why it was so hidden on the UK site, I don't know. What symphony? Oh, yeah, um, Symphony No 19 "Vishnu" by Alan Hovhaness.

The purple one has the same problem with a book, she saw it last year, doesn't remember the title, the cover or even looked at the ISBN number...She read it Waterstones somewhere, it was a childrens book, about some creatures, and a light going out or something...She liked it, and I'm not sure why she didn't buy it then... Hope it lives up to your expectations Heather

I believe import duty now applies to goods over £100.00 and VAT applies to goods over £18.00. That's how I understand it anyway Peter.

I think that's just terrible! They are no longer listing the book so I can't find out how much they would normally sell it at, but there are a few sellers who are selling it for a similar price (new). I'm peeved off because I ordered it last Saturday, I had confimation and everything, now I'll need to wait an extra week or so on top of what I orginally had to wait... Grrrrrr....

Not a lot you can do really. The terms and conditions will probably state that the contract is formed on dispatch of the goods, not when payment is taken. No contract has yet been formed, so either party can get out of it if they so wish. Peter.

There's abiding by a contract, and there's good customer service though. Had I wanted that book by today (it was estimated to be delivered today) then I would have been screwed. It's not my fault they weren't careful enough with their business account and got hacked. Anyhoo, another book has been ordered, except the delivery estimate is now two weeks away

I need to download an MS-DOS CD driver when I get home, as I am trying to install Windows 3.11 on VM Ware.
