13 Year Olds Solar Panel Boost

A 13 year old has come up with a new way to lay out solar panels that provides a 50% boost compared with conventional flat arrays.
I do wonder however, how many 13 year olds have even heard of the Fibonacci sequence.

I don't think it is as much as 50%, but it does gain more energy over a longer period. Plane panels will not peak till the sun was directly overhead. The leaf method effectively averages out the energy gained over all the leaves so might not have the same peak, but will average higher for longer. So power gained is higher overall. While it is a clever solution I do not think it should be patentable.
