Hmm....

Quote:
When you hear the name Jesus, is the first image that comes to mind a dewy-eyed pretty boy with flowing locks? If so, think again. After 2,000 years, the Messiah is getting a makeover.

This time he's less "gentle Jesus, meek and mild" and more of a kick-ass action hero – a Chuck Norris in sandals.

Not the first time they’ve tried this. Last time, Jesus was made to look like Ché.

Problem is that each time they try something like this, they miss the target by a few degrees and come up with something either half-cocked, or in the more recent case, somewhat homo-erotic.

They're following the idea of a court magician with an ego, who has an invisible father; living in the sky.

Personally, I would argue that most of them are delusional; and a fair number are idiots.

[edit] BTW, if their faith is so strong, why do they need to "improve" the brand? It tickles me that something as supposedly pure as religion needs marketing.

It's been happening for thousands of years. There is nothing new under the sun.

Seriously, the bible was written by PR men with an agenda and it's changed repeatedly since year dot. The othe religions have mostly been evolving too, because they're not much use without followers.

Yeah but it's not as if Science under goes periodical image refreshes, with TV series with lots of whizzy CGI, no boring pages of maths, and some northern ex-muso to make you think 'Science and maths are cool!', is it?

Yes. Yes they are. Totally.

I wouldn't be typing this without them; that's how important they are. Plus of course there's the "big bang theory" - best sitcom on TV

Of course they are. My point, clumsily put, is that both science and religion go through rebranding exercises to seem accessible and 'cool'.
Nothing new here.

Or indeed, under the sun.

Except for JedWood. They were a totally original never before conceived* concept.
