One of the things I like about Alien is the graphics scattered around the Nostromo. I’ve seen a lot more of these having watched it in HD, and they are really nice.

Here is a sampling of Ron Cobb’s designs. I think they do the job well, but also have a rather wry sense of humour built in.

The artificial gravity ones are very good.

My flatmate was seeing someone recently who was working on the graphics for "the new one" - it didn't last very long though, so I didn't get the chance of any kind of preview. :x

Having just sat through the new Alien documentary on the BluRay set, and seen the documentary about Blade Runner recently, I would expect that Scott is driving everyone mental. He’s clearly a perfectionist, and very, very hands on. He pissed off the Blade Runner crew, and he was at loggerheads with the studio execs while making Alien. Hopefully he’s got the experience to deal with these situations better now, and they have the respect to let him do his job.

Not bad going for someone who started out advertising bread.

I've always looked closely at the buttons, especially when Ripley is self-destructing the Nostromo, but never had it in good enough definition to make out. 8-)

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I have to say that the craft and attention to detail that goes into adverts is easily on a par, if not surpasses in some areas, to that which goes into film.

And I have to say that yours is almost certainly the best constructed sentence of the day. :ugeek:

Depends on the adverts. MadBid adverts do not fit into this definition.

Equally, Alien isn't 'This year's Four Weddings/Full Monty/Notting Hill!' (or whatever the tabloid press are trying to whip up as a homegrown success - delete as appropriate).

I think the sentence is a little wordy, and I don't think Cilit Bang's "look what it does to a penny" scenes are exactly Scorsese-esque. :p
