I thought that the whole series was shot on video tape. Apparently not - they used 35mm film and sampled it down to video for editing. So, it seems, some episodes are being re-done in HD. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/21702/ ... chy-archerLooks like a big job. They did sterling work on the original series. TNG has always looked a bit ropey in comparison. I hope this “sampler” set is a prelude to a reworking of the whole series. A huge undertaking given the number of episodes and FX shots needed. I do wonder if the props they used will stand up to the HD treatment. I’ve seen some, and they look pretty rough up close. They were designed to look good on SD TV, not film.

Would be nice to see. I've got a soft spot for it. Problem is, there are people out there who will buy it irrespective of quality.

I have not bought any of the TV series but have seen the remastered original series. Very impressed. I will probably get them at some point depending on the price.

I always thought it was done in 35mm. Maybe I saw a documentary on it at some point where it was mentioned. It's what made watching repeats of it on TV so bloody painful for me, because the image was always so soft and fuzzy to look at. Aside from a handful of episodes that I really like, I have avoided the repeats of it for that reason. Mark

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Typo. Like your "troy". Anyway, for the benefit of others. As she was in TNG: And now:

I was more of a DS9 fan, although Babylon 5 is my real favourite.
Troy was nice, so were Beverly and Tasha as well, but it was Major Kira that I liked best, something about the crinkly nose, maybe. Dax was more beautiful, but I preferred Kira.

Not ignorance, typo, as above. And I'm sorry, but Insurrection was where it was at for the counsellor.

Have you been reading my mind Dave? I always get a bit of surprise when I hear Marina Sirtis out of character because the cockney really comes across. If I was going to splash out and get any Trek (other than the films) on blu-ray (or DVD for that matter) it would have to be DS9 first (although B5 on BR would be top of the list). It was darker, there was much more of an underlying story and the characters were more believable because they had believable flaws and insecurities. Plus I'm a real sucker for a massive space battle and DS9 had them in spades, even if (as is often the case in Trek) the ships capabilities changed dramatically depending on the needs of the story and who was on board and so few Star Fleet captains seemed to have worked out their ships could fire more than one weapons system at once. I also didn't think Voyager was as bad as some people did but I'd probably go for TNG before Voyager.
