Which members are still in Oz? And are any willing to act as an emergency contact?
We have a student here, German, who is going to Australia for 6 months to a year, travelling round and hoping to improve his English. He is well mannered and friendly, but this is his first extended trip in a foreign country.
If you are willing to act as an emergency contact, or perhaps meet up with him, if he comes to your area, I will DM you his email address and you can make the contact.
Please don't feel obliged to do this. It was just an idea, given that he is not a native English speaker and that he will be a long way from home.

I would be happy to Dave but am currently in Europe for at least the next 6 months.  The only other forumite I know of in Oz is Dave, aka Blue Nowhere, but I wouldn't like to volunteer for him.

I am indeed still in Oz and would be happy to do this; I'm based in Brisbane about 15 minutes out of CBD.
I'd be happy to help out however I can while he's here, if he needs someone to show him around or whatever.

Haha, I will admit that this is an option, and this did indeed happen when Matt was here; I also have a new, comfier sofa and a bed in the spare room if you ever come back Matt.
