You people do realise that just about any of these kind of shenanigans is probably enough to make the bloke think 'sod that for a game of soldiers'. Doesn't sound like the relationship is that old and, therefore, commitment levels aren't likely to be that high. I don't actually have any sisters CW, but if I did I'd imagine if they get chucked a few days after taking their new boyfriend to meet their brother who acts like a dick they might just put two and two together and come up with 'kick CW in the nuts the next time I see him'.

Basically, how about 'not acting like a dick' as an option?

She's been seeing him for several months now. The wind up is for the first meet only and maybe not all of it. Depends on how it goes.

I just want to make sure that he knows that I'm a nice guy, unless he messes with my sister.

My usual approach would be my normal charming self until the end of the meeting, then casually add "and if you hurt her, I'll rip your arms and legs off".

Jeez, relax a little.

Remember this bit? ;)

In all honesty, CW, if you pitch up out of the blue your sister might not be too thrilled. If it's been going on for months, there's little you can do; regardless of how lighthearted your intentions are.

It's probably worthwhile meeting him, but I would probably just wait for the right moment to tell him (sincerely) how much your sister's happiness means to you. I can tell you from experience, if he's a w@nker, nothing you do or say will make a blind bit of difference; and if he's not a w@nker, you don't need to say anything.

She's in on it! Wants me to do the "big brother" routine, which I've never done before.

TBH, from what she tells me, he's a stand up guy.

I just want to get him to run through the gauntlet so to speak. More of a ritual I guess than anything else

My two advantages are: he doesn't know me, and he thinks I look very stern/strict from the photo's my sister has shown him.

I've got to say, if it were me in his shoes, I'd be forming opinions about my dates family pretty quickly. Probably not good ones.
Put yourself in his shoes - this is the first time he's meeting you, and he's possibly going to come away thinking 'F- that for a game of soldiers.'
Or worse, Alpha-males you right back in this pissing contest that's all your own making.

Casually ask him if he floats when thrown into a river.

This has got to be the best suggestion yet. Just make sure you have some balloons on string, (which you must tie to the back of your seat) and one of those squirty flowers on your lapel.
