Good. I’ve had enough myself of being hassled in the high street by chuggers. Some really don’t seem to know the word “no”. Some called round yesterday. Thankfully, they had a chat on the doorstep about tactics (one was clearly being trained), so I just didn’t bother answering the door., I hear the conversation with my neighbour though. She asked for a leaflet, and they were telling her that they needed a signature from her today, and then asked if they could call back next week.

On my walk from the office to the bus stop there are always a group of them that stop / try to stop me. The last lot were from some animal charity and asked me "Do you like Puppies and Kittens" - they seemed less than pleased with my reply "Only in a Stir Fry"

I did overhear one chugger trying to get some guy he acosted to sign up to those monthly direct debits. The guy wasn't interested. I heard:
Guy: "I don't want to sign up" Chugger: "You don't care about these people" Guy: "No I don't now piss off and leave me alone"

I already have a standing order every month to one charity and that is my excuse. No need for another.

Make sure its a standing order and not a direct debit or you could find your donation rising without your permission! The only time i've had an encounter with one of these "chugger" was when I was living in London and was asked to spare some money for disabled children, she definitely wasn't impressed with "how many do I get for a pound then?"

It’s always “disabled children” or “children with cancer” or things along those lines. All designed to provoke maximum moral obligation to sign up.

It is a standing order and while I have not increased it for years it is not costing them anything in chuggers fees.

Personally, I think Airplane demonstrated the proper behaviour when dealing with chuggers.

I think the ones that knock on your door are much worse than the ones that stop you on the street. I'm not a rude man, but I just had to shut the door on the last one who came round. He just wouldn't take no for an answer.

This is why I ignore my buzzer unless I'm expecting someone. Or if it's one of the emergency services.
