Just used a bunch of next to worthless Maximiles points on something actually worth having, a £25 PSN voucher. Also found someone willing to ship the PS3 wireless headphones I've been after :D

Just bought a first edition of The Book Of Heroic Failures from a charity shop for fifty pence.
It was published in 1979. It it were published today it would be called "The book of Epic Fail".
It's a really funny book. Modern reprints are available if you want it.

Finally, a minor tale of win (today needed it!) - Play.com have shipped my nephew's Xmas present, an £18 Lego log cabin that normally retails for £25 :)

Thanks to my lovely GF's suggestion of using all our Tescos vouchers for something useful for once I am now happily back in the land of the SLR, digital styley.

Doubling up £105 of vouchers to £210 has just gotten me a Canon 1100D + 18-55mm IS lens for the princely sum of £179.95 from Jessops. W00T!!!!

Oh and a free tripod worth £35 came along as well for some reason. Not the best but it's light and will fit snuggly on the new lowepro backpack I've orderd that was also on offer. :D

Just waiting for the memory card to turn up and it's into the land of snapping at a bargain price for me. :D

My car 'failed to proceed' a few weeks ago.
The call out service I have with my insurance was dreadful - despite me telling them I at town X, just down the road from much larger town Y, they sent a truck to me from Somerset.
Y'see, their software didn't have town X on it's system. But it did have a similarly, yet crucially subtly different, named town. So that's where they sent the truck.
Nobody's fault really, apart from the database.
However, after filling out the 'Tell us about your breakdown experience' questionnaire, I've just received a cheque for £25. Or about £10 for each hour I was kept waiting.
:D

Had a Mini given off my uncle! :)

It's got a 1308cc engine in it from a Metro GTa, 1 1/2' SU carb, minisport intake, tubular manifold, ported head, high compression pistons and a high lift cam, amongst other things. Good for about 140hp when it was last dynoed.

It's running on coilovers and hi-lo shocks all round too, and some massive minilites. Oh, and it's been converted to discs all round.

Not bad for free, especially when it's a project with everything there :D

I look forward to seeing it finished. :)
Just be careful how you finish it, they're getting quite tough on things (mainly thanks to the Land Rover and that one guy killed his family in a Landy held together with string and chewing gum or something).

Cheers mate :)

Yeah, I think i'm gonna totally tear it down and start again. I had a look round it though, and just about everything is brand new. It had some new subframes a few years ago too, and the stub axles on the back are new too. So it's solid enough.

I just want it so I can hammer all of the chavvy Corsas and the likes round here :P

And it's retro cool too :)

After communion yesterday, I knocked into someone and without thinking, apologised in German. I then had the following conversation with a ninety year-old woman:

Old Woman: "Did it hurt?"
Me: "Erm... did what hurt?"
Old Woman: "Being assimilated into the Collective?"

Cast your eye over this - http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/RegisteringAVehicle/DG_10014199. I'm not sure where you stand if the car's still registered etc. though.
