I was wondering if anyone else has tried it? Especially since they're doing a deal whereby your first game purchase is only £1.

http://www.onlive.co.uk/games/featuredgames

This includes new stuff like Space Marine and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

They also do free trials for certain games (30min access to the first game), i personally trialled Space Marine and was thoroughly impressed (so much so that i used the £1 deal for it).

At first i was rather skeptical, especially with the issue of lag and latency however i was pleasantly surprised when it was just as responsive as playing it locally.

Now there are obvious cons, the main one being graphics. It doesn't really compare to consoles yet, but i think that will only improve with better connections.

The other is the requirement for an internet connection, but i've never really been bothered by that.

Last would be the issue of whether or not the service will succeed. I personally think it's got the potential although it's early days and things haven't gone wrong yet.

If i didn't have a Gaming PC i'd definitely consider this over buying a new console and i'd easily recommend people to at least try it out.

Cool! Didn't realise it was here yet!

I've signed up (Fogmeister is my gamer tag).

How long did it take to activate your account?

Will be getting the same one :D

Heard v good things about it.

Don't know if my internet will cope though.

I've got Virgin looking into it and I've lost the connection 5 times this evening (i.e. the router thinks the internet is offline).

Ok, wow! Just wow!

That thing is so far in the future it hasn't been invented yet!

I just bought DXHR for £1 and was playing it INSTANTLY on my 4 year old MBP using an XBox 360 controller. It was playing at fairly decent graphics settings and a decent 20-30 fps consistently. It only failed when my router died completely after about 40 mins of playing.

I was excited about this when I first heard mention of it around 2 or 3 years ago. It has not disappointed in the slightest. The controls had the minutest of lag on them, maybe about 0.2 seconds ish. Enough to notice but not enough to make a difference.

Ok it is a lot like steam... But it is also completely different. The problem I have with steam is that whenever I open it I'm always waiting for 100s of mb to download before I can play anything. I click to play hl2 and it starts updating and tells me 30 mins remaining. Then when it does play it's slow and clunky, my mbp heats to around 15,000 degrees and sounds like it's about to take off. This is so much more. My mbp didn't bat an eyelid about playing the game and there was no waiting. I seriously can't work out how it works. Even YouTube is slower than that to serve me a 360p video. This was instant with no lag and no buffering! Amazing!

This wi be big!

Add me as a friend, I'm on as Fogmeister.

Haha, it's nice to see someone so excited :P.

I'll be sure to add you ;D.

It should be £1 for any game i believe, so long as it's your first. Pre-orders aren't included however.

The concept i think is definitely sound and this completely satisfies all "proof-of-concept" i was looking for.

There are some other issues that have since been highlighted to me, although your take on them will depend on your personal stance.

The main one is about "ownership" of games, since you don't actually "get" the game, only it being streamed to you. This is why i personally didn't buy Deus Ex with it, as i want to own that game. Instead i chose Space Marine because i want the game and want to play it, but i'm not particularly bothered whether or not i own it.

Also there's the possibility they may start charging for what is now a free service as i can see them losing more money through upkeep of the service than actual sales etc. Although i'll deal with that issue when it comes to it.

Anyhow, i'll be at Eurogamer Expo later today where they have a stand/display and i'll be sure to head over there and congratulate them on making such a great impression. I'll also try to bag one of the free micro-consoles that they're handing out there.
