Newspapers - reckon you'll miss 'em?

I went through a phase of buying The Times so I could say to people "I was reading in The Time...", because I like things like that.
We occasionally 1-3 time a month buy The Sunday Times as it has lots of extras in, mainly stuff that Faye likes while I read the actual paper. On a few of the nicer Sundays in the past few months I've taken it out onto the stoop and read it while smoking my pipe, rather pleasant way to spend an hour or so.
EDIT: Yes slippers were worn, but the dressing gown isn't for getting smokey...

Nah.
We get the local paper, every once in a while, but that's about it.
I haven't bought a national newspaper in ages.

I used to read a lot of Sunday papers as it gave me a weeks news and scandal all in one fell swoop. I am currently going through cold turkey as regards Sunday papers. I get all my news free via the BBC or the internet. I use a number of News apps as well, including the Metro app.

We have the Times plop through our front door every morning.
As others have said, try lining a pet's toilet tray with a Kindle, or lighting a fire with a laptop (although given some battery manufacturer's past, that might be more likely).

I don't buy newspapers as I'm not interested in what I read about on the Internet yesterday, and I'm certainly not interested in reading someone elses, (distorted) opinion of yesterday's news.

Surely all news presented to you will be distorted in some way or fashion? Even if you went to interview someone and I did the same, we'd could each end up with two different stories on the same thing! _________________ He fights for the users.

It isn't that hard to pick out the facts and ignore the chaff whatever medium the news comes in.

I can live without paying for a subscription. The BBC and Channel 4 News do a pretty good job, on the news front and the blogs do well for the rest of the crap out there.

Both good points, but if I want different perspectives on the same story I can go to the BBC and Sky News websites.
