Amazon use Luxembourg a lot as it's a tax haven. Also Ireland would be used if necessary.

Unlikely as Greece would have a currency risk as a new Drachma will probably be more variable than the Euro.

I meant in terms of Ireland being a euro country with a fragile economy, it's not inconceivable that the euro won't last much longer, it's a shame in a way, I was pro us joining the euro, and we probably would have joined if we'd got that referendum. Thankfully, someone in New labour saw fit to not let the public decide, in other words they did their duty to serve the best interest of the public, not the public's wishes...

For small stuff I'm happy for the government to govern. But for the big stuff, like european entities and currencies, foreign policies that include war etc. I would prefer a referendum. Seems more democratic somehow.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I am making no bets as to the outcome of the euro. There is a lot of politicians pride resting on it, so they could bankrupt nations to avoid losing face. I am also pro euro, but was more pragmatic about it. I think that the euro will still be here in ten years time, but without Spain, Italy and Greece. Even France might not make it through as members. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=50.803917,-0.058245Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.

I thought Labour never held the referendum on the Euro as they thought they'd lose it. Luckily for us they didn't just join anyway.

In that case, it may as well be called the "Deutche Mark"

It probably should, the Germans keep getting fecked over by the rest of the eurozone.

Far from it. The presence of the weaker EU members has meant an euro much less valuable than it should be. As such they have benefited substantially from exports as a result of this weak euro. Then the bulk of the problems in the weaker nations are as a result of german banks lending recklessly elsewhere. Much of the greek bail outs have been recycled straight back into german and french banks. While France takes a big hit if Greece defaults the germans have benefited from years of BMW and merc sales to greek paid for effectively with german money. The real problem has been the banks ability to circumvent regulations by lending overseas effectively to the rest of europe.

That the Calibre book conversion software is just a bit handy, and I'd say especially if you've got an e-reader (I'm doing a bit of testing for a potential purchase, maybe next year)
