We have our general waste (black bins) collected one week and our garden/food waste(Brown bin), metal/plastic (Blue bin) and Paper collected the next.

It works fine except if you miss a week as you are on holiday. Then you can go a month without having a bin emptied.

It also misses the fact that smaller bins can mean that streets are cleared quicker. Big bins can fill the dustcarts quicker.
