London Mayor Boris Johnson was on good form when Paxman interviewed him. We now know that:
• Boris can tell is a cameras is working, broken or scuffed
• Boris deems Philosophy, Politics and Economics (David Cameron’s subject - in which he got a first) a lesser subject than his - Literae Humaniores (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literae_Humaniores)
• Boris also fancies himself a campaign manager when David eventually goes. He makes Paxman an offer that can be easily refused.

Anyway, it’s an illuminating interview. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-15177652

Also, we now have an excellent new FacePalm image.

There's been lots at the Tory conference.

Notably the cat fiasco used when the Home Sec was trying to say why we shouldn't have the Human Rights Act.

Mainly this was a facepalm as the foreign criminal involved was not allowed to stay in the UK as he had a cat that she expressed was 'true, and we've checked it' and secondly she went on to detail the other aspects of the Human Rights Act that are already in place to protect nations from having to keep foreign criminals in their country, it's just that the Courts haven't been forced to implement them.

So Home Sec facepalm on many levels, primarily because she's inept at checking her facts and secondly because she provides support for the argument against her own point. Good on old Ken Clarke for pointing that out too about his own Home Sec.

Oh and yesterday great glee was taken by the Tories in the fact that the Olympic Stadium has been finished ahead of schedule, that'll be a building started during the Labour Government then..

That's a typical standpoint, all the bad things were the fault of the other lot; but anything good... we'll have some of that!

In this case, I use "good" in the loosest of terms. The whole Olympic thing is lost on me.

[edit] Back to the OP, I think Boris is brill. Such a comedy figure, holding a serious position.

And almost finished under them as well. Many of the facilities were ready months ago.

That is a great image though.

Oh DCs speech was a facepalm until they changed it. The one released to the press last night had him telling the public they should pay off their credit card bills.

Funny, the feedback was that he may sound like a patronising millionaire twat if he said that so he changed it for today.

Aside from that, equivocating vacuous drivel. It's been pretty much par for the course in all of the conferences.

If you haven’t, you need to watch that interview.
