Interestingly, there's a meme floating round Twitter this morning:

Quote:
3 Apples that changed the world: the one that Eve ate, the one that fell on Newton's head and the one that Steve built.

An allegorical story, an apocryphal story, and a phoenix-from-the-ashes story. Only one of these has any measure of truth to it.

:geek:

I just remember that Jobs binned the Newton on his return. And now we have iPads.

My Mac crashed last night. I wonder if it was, you know, the moment?

:|

(Actually I was sharing an external disk from another Mac over the network, which disk decided to unmount itself, leaving both Macs befuddled for a time.)

Weirdest thing, so did mine. Proper kernel panic too.

Mind you, I was viewing a Flash web page at the time so....

Whilst it wasn't entirely unexpected news, I was still taken aback when I heard. The man was a genius who, despite apparently being a hard man to work for, genuinely had passion for this industry we're all influenced by - whether we like that or not.

R.I.P. Steve

Interesting rumour going round that the iPhone 5 was renamed to the 4S as a tribute to him... iPhone 4Steve
Not sure whether I believe that, but there you go... nice little conspiracy theory for Steve to leave you on! Even in death, he keeps you guessing.

A sad day. I’m at a loss to think of anything new to add to the various obituaries that have been populating Twitter and the press today. We all knew this day was going to happen. All I can say is that if you have Apple kit, enjoy it just a little bit more today than you usually do.

Strangely I've been overcome by the urge to go and buy an iPad. No idea why!

I'm sad for him and his family, but a lot of what is being said in the media is crap.

It's a young age to pass away, but when you think about the impact Jobs had on three industries, it's pretty impressive and certainly more than a lot of people will achieve in longer lifetimes.

I've been fascinated by Jobs' story for a long time - it was really him, and not so much the kit, that kept me interested in Apple. From a business point of view it's difficult to get a better story.

The corporate world just got a little less interesting.
