My Friend the Mercenary

Remember that coup Mark Thatcher and Simon Mann were part of? It's the story around that :)

Just downloaded "Die Auserwählten" (The Chosen) from A.J. Kazinski. Supposed to be a very good thriller.

Paine, Thomas: The Rights of Man

So far, it is exceedingly good.

Got these two from the library, a quick scan reveals potential goodness :D :

The Candy Machine: How Cocaine Took Over the World

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Candy-Machine-C ... 695&sr=1-1

I do like a bit of real life crime :D

...

Undead - Night of the Living Dead & Return of the Living Dead

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Undead-Night-Li ... 805&sr=1-1

Reads really well so far (I can't remember much of the films it's been that long), and the last even vaguely similar book I read was I Am Legend, quite some years ago now

Update: Die Auserwählten (The Chosen) is very good. I worked out some of the plot twists in advance, but it had me gripped to the driver's seat of my car, I found myself driving slower, so I could hear more of it, before I got to work.

Just downloading "Snow White must die" from Nelle Neuhaus, the first Pia Kirchhoff and Oliver von Bodenstein murder mystery (my girlfriend is currently reading the second one, "he who sows the wind").

I've had to give up on The Candy Machine: How Cocaine Took Over the World - there's some interesting info, but almost the entire book relies on, 'In 19xx, a study found that...'. We all know how easy it is to shape statistics, so it's hard to concentrate when reading it :(

I'm currently reading Bill Bryson's 'Troublesome words' which is a somewhat comic (but authoritative) book about english grammar. I have just found out that I didn't know how to spell millepede correctly - I thought it was millipede - nor could I spell minuscule which I had always thought to be miniscule. It's a very enjoyable book and it has been interesting to find out, for example, the difference between forego and forgo; continual and continuous and nauseous and nauseated. Well worth a look.

Well I finished Cross Fire (James Patterson) and it was ok but I won't be reading any more. I've started on The Confession (John Grisham) after which I'll finally get around to Catch 22. I'm still debating now I have my phone back working if I'm going to finish Crime and Punishment.

I've been reading Sourcery by Pratchett for the last couple of weeks. Almost at the end, finding it a bit of a struggle if I'm honest, lots of jumping around.

I've just taken delivery of Jobs' biography, so I'll be switching switching to that for a while.
