Well so far I've seen two updates/changes/fixes in iOS5 that definitely weren't announced (I would imagine there are quite a few).
I thought I'd create a thread for any others that you might find.
The two I've found so far...
1. When updating Apps (either from the AppStore or iTunes) it will start subsequent downloads as soon as the previous download is finished so that multiple apps will be "Installing" at the same time. Previously this would wait for the first app to download and install before starting the download of the second app. 2. From the lock screen (with the screen off) you now just have to double tap the home button to get to the controls. Previously (in iOS4 anyway) you had to tap the home button to turn on the screen and then double tap the home button to get to the controls.

Ok, found another one.
3. In text messaging if you summon the keyboard you can now dismiss it by dragging it downward. This was something that bugged the hell out of me in 4. The only way to get rid was to go back to the list of text conversations and then back into the one you want to read.
Brilliant update!

4. You know you can now use the 'volume up' button as shutter release on the Camera app? Well it works with the iPhone headphones too. If you start up Camera with the headphones plugged in and press 'volume up' on the remote control, the camera takes a picture.

Easy to mod too.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I didn't expect that the message notification centre would a rip-off of the one on Android, or that they would bodge some Android-like widgets onto it.

I don't know why...Everyone was on about it when it was announced Didn't Apple make a note of it too?

There's nothing really like widgets in Android in there. The home screen is still pretty much what it has always been.

No idea. I didn't see the launch and hadn't seen any videos of it, before I got the update. I was looking for the Notification area and couldn't see it. I looked for an app, couldn't see anything. Then I thought, "hmm, in Android, you wipe down from the top of the screen." I wiped down from the top of the screen and was surprised to see the same notification area I have on my Sensation, plus a weather widget and stockmarket widget. Actually, the one area it isn't the same, seems to be that it doesn't display new e-mails - correction, I found the settings for it and e-mail is turned off by default...

You can also turn off the widgets and specify how the notifications are displayed (old/new). TBH I'm not sure what the fuss is about? Lots of people have "complained" that Apple have copied Android with the new notification center. Are they saying that Android has NEVER copied ANYTHING from Apple? Also, does it make it bad just because it looks similar to the Android one? I quite like the new notification center.

Erm... no. Not everyone. The vast majority of the UK population couldn't give the tiniest toss about any launch of any tech product, let alone a geek-phone of whatever persuasion. Quite the reverse. For years Apple and many of its fans have howled loud and clear to anyone that will listen that others have copied, infringed or stolen their designs. The various lawsuits and injunctions against the Galaxy and Galaxy Tab are based entirely on this premise. But, of course, when Apple do it, it's perfectly fine. It's absolutely not hypocritical in any way, shape or form, oh no...

Ah, I see. TBH I've never really bothered looking into Android or WP7 so I don't really know (or care) who has copied from who. As long as what I am using works well and is nice to use/look at etc... then I'm happy.
