You might want to check the battery life maybe.

Yep, that as well - good call! ;)

There's a free utility called Battery Health Monitor which you can download to check the battery's capacity. With it fully charged, check the "Original Capacity" value against the "Current Capacity" value. Anything above 90% is OK. You'll never get 100% unless it's brand new and the battery hasn't had any power cycles, but as long as it's above 90% then you have nothing much to worry about. Apple recommend you do at least one full power cycle per month (charge it up to 100% and use it on battery until it goes to sleep, after the warning message appears).

If you option-click the battery icon in the menu bar it'll tell you some basic info on the condition of your battery :)

I imagine there's some dinky little demo videos in System Preferences > Trackpad to show the various gestures - I don't have Lion, but that's usually the place to look for these things like the Magic Mouse options (for that, look in the Mouse preferences). That should cover the system gestures, each app might have its own gestures too, such as iPhoto, Safari, etc, probably configured via their own Preferences.

I'm sure there's a list of Lion's gestures on Apple's website somewhere.

EDIT: Have a look on this page if you can't find them in System Preferences.
