All the skins are just ideas at the moment.
They'll be tweaked to make things work. Then we can have a poll to decide on the one we like (after more are added and the bugs are fixed)

I know this has been mentioned before in this thread, but please can we have some better categories and boards? :D

Merci,

Peter.

Can you expand on that?

I think the split now is about right.

Actually, the boards are about right, but is there any chance of some catagories, please?

At the moment there are just "Welcome" and "Forum", but ones to differentiate between general chat and technical help would be great.

Peter.

Ah, I'm with you. I think there's merit in your suggestion.

Thanks :D

If you go on CPCFF you'll see the sheer number of categories they have. I hope that we don't want an awful skin like that or as many pointless categories, but that's the general idea.

Peter.

I notice we can attach files to our posting, now with a small community where we all now each other to a certain extent, this probably isn't to much of an issue but is this advisable if our community grows.

I'm thinking virus / trojan risks.

Multi-quote: Seen it on some boards and it's an awesome feature. Saves me having to click a 'quote reply' in separate tabs and then copying and pasting into one reply.

Colours: Just seen a (5x5)x5 pallette to the right. Do we really need 125 colours? I think the basic 16-colours would be more than enough.

Posted in response to the Google questions in the thread "Do we need forums other than The Meeting Place?"

Fastest way to get Google to index you, and therefore attract more users, is to use google analytics for your usage stats. Its free. I use it on about a dozen sites.

Also we would really need a site attached with content pages rather than "just" a forum.

Okay, so now if anyone wants their profile info on the left, go to your user control panel and choose subsilver2.

I've got that one right now, and it's much more like the old place - not that I didn't like the new default look.

Actually, most of the choices have the profiles on the left. Only most currently don't seem to include your post edit options. Ah well, back to prosilver for a while longer. :D

I've just got used to having it on the right :( It didn't take as long as I thought.

Ditto, I tried all the skins but actually prefer the default!

In terms of boards/categories, I'm pretty happy with what we have, it isn't too cluttered and fits nicely on my screen :P The only think I'd like to see is a "technical help" or a "programming help" board for all those things which aren't PC or Mac specific, it would stop people posting HTML/Java/C/etc questions in the meeting place trying to capture a wider audience...

Erm, I've just noticed a very serious fault in the boards.

The language filter replaces swear words with the text "rude word".

Surely they should be replaced with the text "[LIFTED]"

[/half serious suggestion]

Sorry I'm too lazy to hunt through this thread; but did we veto a computer games forum for some reason?
