I'm not registered on Twitter. I've just been to the 'site and it appears that you have to be registered to view anything on there.

This from O2 Twitter

Quote:
One last clarification: You will need to pay to end your contract if you want to upgrade early. See you all tomorrow!

So if you got your iPhone 3G on launch day, and I would guess upgrading usually means after the first 12 months you would need to pay that extra month perhaps???

Confused

It is looking tempting... Just need it to be available on O2, or I'll have to wait another year for my current contract to finish...

Well that was a bit of a letdown.
An upgrade to a slightly faster cpu & the camera goes up to a whopping 3MP.
Unless they do a decent deal like they did last time (which I doubt as they subsidised phones last time) I think I'll stick with what I've got.

Well 3Mp is more than I have ever used on my real camera. I am sure I will cope with it on my phone.

I am not sure why they made the cpu faster. Anybody know why this is needed?

32Gig is what I was waiting for. So it looks like I will be getting one soon.

O2 have screwed existing customers, it seems if you have an 18 month contract from the 3G at launch you will need to buy out your contract and start again, and pay more for the iPhone on top.

OMG check out the tethering costs

No, that's not true. The first Intel Macs (core duo) were 32 bit. I believe there was a Mini, MacBook and possibly MacBook Pro.

About the 3G-S, I'm not sure what to think. I can't help but think that it's a bad idea to have two models, each with different hardware. Will we find ourselves in a situation where certain apps can only be used on the 3G-S???

That would be a disaster I think, so I'm hoping that won't be the case.

AFAIK it was only the 1st Generation MacBook and Mac mini that are 32-bit only (Jan til Sept 2006). But yes, they were 32-bit only processors.

Which either means that "Intel" only is both 32-bit and 64-bit, or 32-bit Intel owners can share the same shaft as Power PC owners...

Fair enough, but Apple has seen fit to drop PPC support with 10.6.

*shrug*

Woo! Go you!

The announcements yesterday were the first time I'd actually felt an iPhone was something I could use.

The downer is the expense, both initial purchase and the cost of the O2 tariff. I cannot justify upwards of £30 a month on a phone. :(
