Which is an issue as it's generally the case that you want the heavier stuff to be at the bottom of the bag. You don't want to be putting a 2Ltr bottle of soft drink in a bag on top of half a dozen eggs, do you? Jon

They've just put these infernal things in the WH Smiths in town.
I was not amused when I was told that there was an unexpected item in the bagging area - as far as I could tell it was the bag.

Which is why I've always used separate bags for heavy and light items. It's also why you'll see my shopping neatly arranged on the conveyor belt of a checkout till. Twice I've heard some guy remark to his female friend/partner that that's how they should do it too.

I scan lighter and delicate items first and put them at the back of the scales so they get packed last. I do it the other way around if using a conveyor.
Haven't had a problem with unexpected items in a long time.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

You're not alone. I have to pack them depending where they're going to in the kitchen.

Not quite, if I applied logic I'd go on my own and reduce the shopping time by over an hour.

That and we would only get the things we need rather than a load of extra impulse buys.

I have to stick up for my GF there with regards to supermarket shopping, she is a discount hunting demon.

God that's annoying. Even more so when you take it back out and it says "item removed from bagging area".
