Got my tree this evening. Then realised my existing christmas lights are frankly inadequate for it. I'll have to get some new ones. Ah well, at least this time I suppose I can get LEDs.

I put my tinsel on my long rod for the festive shoot this afternoon. And my tree is now up. It may only be a few inches and soft, but it's good enough for what I want:

I've got a little short one with lights on. It's got batteries included.
BTW, I'm taking about a tiny tree in a pot. With little tinsel, decorations and LEDs.
But I can't help thinking that some of you might have read the first bit wrong...

Na, they just don't sparkle as well as bulbs.

Surely any "sparkle" is just down to the glass surrounds? I can't see any reason why a quality set of LED lights wouldn't look good. Of course, cheap ones are just going to look like a bunch of LEDs because they won't be made from cut crystal!

At home our tree is approximately two months older than me! They clearly don't make 'em like they used to!

Same here. The tree my parents will be decorating is well over 40 years old now.

As above, the plastic four foot tree we have is around 25 years old, maybe older.
