Yeah, because Tetris is still a AAA title, selling millions of copies in the shops at the moment [/sarcasm].

I still play Tetris occasionally. Angry Birds, I do not.
I think he's right.

TBF, He may just be jealous he didn't think up a game he could merchandise as plushies.

The iPod was labelled a fad when it first came out too. Tetris I do not play, Angry Birds I do. I don't know if he's right or not … how long does something have to be a fad before it becomes something else? The article seems to cite around 20 years. Well, why not wait around and see? When Tetris was only a few years old the industry was young and there weren't people that could compare it to other games that had been around for 20 years, so they had it easy; no benchmarks to be up against. Let's wait another 15 years or so and see if Angry Birds is looked back upon with the fondness that some look back at Tetris with.

I play Angry Birds more than I play Tetris.
Would there be demand for some plush toy Tetris blocks?

I think Angry Birds is already a classic. Whether in another 20 years people will still remember the tune, the way people my age still mentally play the Tetris tune in their head while parking the shopping trolley remains to be seen.
Incidentally, while walking down a busy street I am mentally playing Asteroids.

I suspect that's because Angry Birds is 'new' (although the game play is far from it). Also - http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plush-tetris-blocks

I'm over angry birds. I certainly spent a lot more of my life playing tetris.

Never seen Angry Birds. That's saying something living up in Geordie land.

It's a disappointing "throw things at a building until it falls down" game. Fun from the start, but repetitive after a while.

Whether it's a fad or not I'm sure the developers and Rovio aren't too worried about the millions they have made from it.
LOL!

Does anyone remember a Flash game that pre-dates Angry Birds but was identical in game-play? I think it was Romans rather than pigs, and it was different types of canon rather than birds. I have a feeling it was posted on here or the MUMP as a Friday time-waster.
